Laboratory workshop - strength of materials - study of tension diagrams of steel and cast-iron

Report requirements:

1 - Main purpose of laboratory work - to study different tension diagrams of plastic and fragile materials, to calculate main strength characteristics of investigated alloys;

2 - to draw diagrams of tension for low-carbon steel and cast-iron in coordinates F=function(delta_l) (force in kN; real elongation in mm) and sigma=function(epsilon) (normal stresses in MPa; relative deformation in %);

3 - to calculate yield strength, ultimate strength and failure stresses for low-carbon steel; to calculate proportionality limit stresses and failure stresses for cast-irons;

4 - to calculate residual relative plastic deformation delta and residual relative narrowing psi for low-carbon steel;

5 - to describe all calculated mechanical characteristics (to give definitons);

Summary:

1 - according to the purpose of laboratory workshop;

2 - according to results: to determine dangerous stress level and admissible stresses for low-carbon steel and for cast-iron; to describe the difference between failure mechanism of low-carbon steel and cast-iron;
